Leeds United and the 49ers are now interested in signing a Premier League stalwart in the summer, according to a recent report.

The Whites are back in Championship action tonight against Sunderland, knowing three points against the Black Cats could put them well on their way to sealing automatic promotion to the top flight.

If Daniel Farke’s men do seal a return to the big time, it is expected that Leeds will be very busy in the transfer market. According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are looking to open talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the permanent signing of Manor Solomon. The winger joined the Whites on loan in the summer and has impressed enormously, becoming a key player in Farke’s attack.
It’s also been reported that Leeds have held internal talks over a move to sign James McAtee from Manchester City if they are promoted to the Premier League. The midfielder has been on the fringes at City, and a temporary or permanent move could materialise in the summer. Leeds are also in the market to strengthen their defence and are in a battle with West Ham, Wolves and Juventus to sign Koni de Winter from Genoa this summer.
Leeds keen on signing "infectious" Leicester defender
De Winter is not the only centre-back that the Whites are considering, as according to TEAMtalk, Leeds could look to sign Conor Coady from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
The report states that the Yorkshire outfit are looking to bring in defensive reinforcements in the summer, as Farke wants to add a new centre-back to his ranks. Leeds still hold an interest in Ben Davies from Spurs, as well as Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach, who Farke knows well. However, Coady is also an option for Leeds, and they could consider making a move for him as he struggles for game time at the King Power Stadium.
The 31-year-old joined the Foxes in July 2023 from Wolves when they were in the Championship. Coady played just 12 times in the second tier last season, as Enzo Maresca favoured others ahead of him. And, even with Maresca now gone, Coady’s game time hasn’t changed much, as he’s played 10 times in the Premier League so far this season, eight of which have come as starts.

The experienced centre-back is under contract until 2026 at Leicester, so this summer is likely their last chance to get a reasonable fee for his services. Despite his lack of game time in recent seasons, Coady is an experienced defender who has played over 180 games in the Premier League and has been capped 10 times by England, where former manager Gareth Southgate labelled him “infectious”.
Coady would be a decent addition for Farke and Leeds in the Premier League, as he brings valuable experience and leadership qualities that can be hard to find, but one has to assume he would have to settle for a similar depth and leadership role as he has at the King Power.
