Chelsea manager Andre Villas Boas has stated that despite his side’s dip in form of late he will not be sacked, and that he should be assessed at the end of the season.
The Blues have had a poor run both domestically and in Europe, with the latest defeat a 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the Carling Cup quarter finals on Tuesday.
Despite growing pressure, the Portuguese coach has stated that he will be at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of his contract.
“I will still be here because I was brought in for a three-year project and we believe in it,” he told reporters ahead of his team’s weekend clash with Newcastle.
“The philosophy is not a cancer. ‘We are not stuck on something which is wrong. We will continue to progress as we are trying.
“I don’t think it’s a crisis. I think you can only [tell] at the end of the season when you are able to reflect on how many trophies you have been able to win.
“We’ve been losing but we felt we gave everything on the pitch, or played good football,” he concluded.
After their trip to Tyneside on Saturday, Chelsea have their all important final Champions League group game against Valencia, as their chances of progression hang in the balance.
