Arsenal have ended months of speculation with the announcement that French international striker Alexandre Lacazette has agreed to join the club on a five-year-deal from Ligue 1 side Lyon.
The 26-year-old joins for a reported club-record £52.6m with add-ons, smashing that paid for playmaker Mesut Ozil when the German joined from Real Madrid in 2013.
The Arsenal fans have been begging the club to land a marquee striker for years now, as their form in the Premier League periodically declined. Last season, when the Gunners dropped out of the Champions League for the first time under Arsene Wenger, only intensified their desire to land a world class talent.
One side from north London who will be at Europe’s top table next season is Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had the better of it over the last 18 months-or-so, despite the Gunners finishing above them in the Premier League the season before last.
With that in mind, the Spurs fans on social media have come out in force to mock their rival’s latest addition…
