Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has claimed that new manager Sam Allardyce will need to get “ruthless” when it comes to cutting players from the squad.Ronald Koeman brought in a handful of new players in the summer transfer window before he was sacked in October.A reliable striker was not one of those purchases, with the void left by Romleu Lukaku being severely felt. The number 10 role, though, has plenty of contenders, including Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney. With a new manager entering the fold, it is always an anxious time for players, particularly those on the fringe. While speaking to fans on Twitter, Campbell suggested that Allardyce may have to be cut throat in order to shape the team that he wants.
Allardyce, who decided to take a brief break from football after stepping down from his job at Crystal Palace at the end of last season, was officially appointed by Everton on Thursday and has signed an 18-month contract.
