According to reports, Tammy Abraham has rejected a move to Wolves as he wishes to stay with Aston Villa and continue their push for promotion – the Villans currently sit tenth in the Championship standings but are just five points from a coveted play-off spot.
The reasoning behind the hitman’s heel-turn is believed to be that he may not be able to play under Nuno Espirito Santo until 19/20 if FIFA decides that appearances for his parent club, Chelsea, in the Under-23s and Community Shield will mean he is unable to play for a third club this season.
BBC Sport state that, while their Midlands rivals remain in the hunt for the 21-year-old and may attempt to resurrect the deal, Villa will retain Abraham’s services for the time being.
Meanwhile, The Mirror have reported that Crystal Palace have now entered the race – the Villa faithful must avoid getting too excited just yet as there’s still a long way to go until the window slams shut.
Abraham has been sensational this season as he tops the goals charts with Brentford’s Neal Maupay – both have netted 16 times – and is, probably, Dean Smith’s best chance of sealing promotion after the Villa Park outfit’s disappointing start to the season under Steve Bruce.
