Aston Villa travelling to third-place Leicester and picking up points was always going to be a tall order due to the fact they have only won two games away from home this season, but careless mistakes let the side down.Pepe Reina, for example, made an unforgivable mistake when he sprinted out of goal to clear a loose ball, only to be beaten to it by Harvey Barnes who duly tucked the ball home. The Villans, up to that point, had looked fairly comfortable, with Reina making a comfortable save from Barnes and Kelechi Iheanacho heading wide, and going in level at half-time could have seen a totally different second half unfold. It wasn’t meant to be for the visitors, and two early second-half goals put the game beyond doubt, leaving a certain Gary Lineker delighted with his team’s performance.During the match he tweeted in reaction to the Foxes’ opener, and couldn’t resist poking fun at Reina in the Villa goal, or rather the fact that on this occasion he wasn’t.
While the Spaniard was clearly at fault, it is worth remembering that he has played very well at times before launching criticism his way.
